It was a cold, freezing night in Kingston, NY. A sold out crowd showed up for Labiahead, a Radiohead-inspired all female band fronted by Lena Hall and Charlene Kaye. Hall, a Tony award winner and Grammy nominee who also stars opposite Jon Hamm in Your Friends and Neighbors brought seriously insane vocals while Charlene shredded a guitar with surgeon-like precision. It’s safe to say that the energy remained high the entire night.
The night also doubled as Lena Hall’s birthday party. In a genuinely surprising moment, the venue brought out a cake so she could blow out the candles. The hour and half set felt like 30 minutes, and I for one wished it would never end. Labiahead closed out with the fan favorite, Creep, but only because their label insisted. 🙂 Labiahead’s next show is February 25th at LPR in Manhattan.
