The pairing of Gold Lake and Firehorse at the December 3rd show could not have been a better choice: the former’s soulful, distant sounds melded perfectly into the landscape created by the latter. Two extremely talent bands, each capable of leading a solo session in their own right, did not conflict with each other, but instead produced something even better. The style for both Firehorse and Gold Lake has been called “hypnotic,” and the summary is if anything an underestimate. Catching either band is a guarantee of something fresh, new, and wholly entertaining.
