A tribute album to my favorite film, Willy Wonka, is something I can definitely get behind. On the album released Oct. 21st, prog-rockers, Primus, deliver a sweet and trippy tribute to the classic 1971 film with their own psychedelic twist.

“Pure Imagination” is the equivalent to being dropped smack dab in the middle of the Wonka Factory but with way more haunting Oompa Loompas and the definitive knowledge that the bratty ones definitely did not make it out alive in the end.

Just in time for an out of ordinary musical Halloween celebration, Primus hits the city’s historic Beacon Theatre, on you guessed it, October 31st.

Primus drummer Tim Alexander suffered a heart attack July 2014 and is currently recovering from open-heart surgery. Primus is touring with Danny Carey, drummer of TOOL, until Alexander’s return.
