CMJ: BULLY + JPNSGRLS

This CMJ Music Marathon night started out a little disappointing. I set out to see The Knocks and RAC at Terminal 5, press and photo badges in hand; only to find out they didn’t honor the CMJ Photo Badge. They would allow me into the show but I would have to check my camera. No Thanks!

I decided to head downtown to check out my girl Alison Mosshart and The Kills at The Bowery Ballroom. When I got there they were not accepting any more badges…FIGURES!!!

I was only a few blocks from our Pancakes And Whiskey Showcase at Pianos, so I decided to stop by and see some friends. I walked in to a packed house there to see Bully. The Nashville alt-rockers tore up the “upstairs” stage. Actually, there is no stage, but they still tore it up!

Knowing things at Pianos were being covered by a few of our writers/photographers; I headed out on the Lower East Side for another show. I stumbled upon Canadians JPNSGRLS at Hotel Chantelle, playing a show that felt like a private show in a friend’s basement. Judging by the energy these guys played with, you’d think they were playing Madison Square Garden. One thing that’s for sure, these guys will definitely be playing much larger venues.
