What better way to heat up a cold snowy New York night than with a hot, whiskey drinking, rock-chick! That chick is Lena Hall, and her band is The Deafening. The New York based band rocked out Highline Ballroom with their brand of straight forward – sex, drugs and rock & roll tunes.
The whole night had a very retro feel to it with another NY based band, Station, opening up. They had a very 80’s – early 90’s vibe, from their sound, to their look, right down to their logo.
The Deafening’s Lena Hall brought some theatrics to the stage. She’s starred in some Broadway plays you may have heard of…Kinky Boots and Hedwig and the Angry Inch. It comes through in her stage presence. The leather jacket and long puffy skirt she started the show in was shed, mid-show, to her lingerie. From there she downed three shots of whiskey, one right after the other. Other sexy outfits were a cheerleader and an cross bearing nun.
