WHISKY LIVE NYC 2015

Guys. Gals. Chances are you’ve made it this far, to Pancakes and Whiskey, because you’re a fan of the darker spirits. Because you want more from a drink than just something to get you turnt up by the end of the night. For whiskey enthusiasts and those who want to learn more about whiskey – how to enjoy, how to taste, how to talk about it without sounding like a complete newb, we’ve got great news for you: Whisky Live is returning to the isle of Manhattan on February 25th.

What is this Whisky Live of which you speak? Oh, I don’t know, how ‘bout an international celebration of whisky (or whiskey, both work) produced by Whisky Magazine, featuring over 300 whiskeys from around the world, from established powerhouses like The Glenlivet to local distilleries like Tuthilltown Spirits (Gardiner, New York). Attendees can sample premium single malt Scotches, bourbons, ryes and Irish whiskies while rubbing elbows with the industry folks who make, sell and mix them. And yes – they’re there to answer your whiskey questions, so don’t be bashful.

Can I taste the whiskeys? Heck yes you can! That’s kinda’ the point. Your entrance ($149 VIP or $119 regular) gets you access to whiskey sampling events, replete with your own Glencairn tasting glass. Plus you can go to one of the master classes (tickets are $20 per class), like the Evolution of Scotch Whisky Master Class or the Balblair Master Class where four new vintages will be released for the first time in the US. Totes tweetworthy.

Are there snacks? Yup – don’t worry, I looked into the snack situation. An evening ticket, VIP or regular, comes with a most lavish dinner buffet to accompany your booze feast. We’re talking a mosaic of imported cheeses, braised bourbon molasses brisket, tarragon dijon roasted chicken and more…

Where and when? Pier Sixty at Chelsea Piers, Wednesday, February 25. The VIP party kicks off at 5:30 and regular entrance at 6:30. I’ll be there and I’ll be thirsty. If you can’t be there (boo), you can still follow the live twitter action (@WhiskyLiveNY) or Facebook feed (WhiskyLIVE USA).
