PANCAKE PICKS: BEST SHOWS OF THE WEEK FOR 3-30

Working with doNYC, we bring you our “Pancake Picks” – The best shows of the week for 3-30.

Monday

Swervedriver @ Mercury Lounge – The rock veterans have been doing their thing longer than most reading this, have been alive. On tour in support of their fourth studio release I Wasn’t Born to Lose You they still carry that signature 90s garage rock sound in ageless fashion.

Alt-J @ Madison Square Garden – The British indie-rock group headlines the legendary Madison Square Garden for the first time. Touring off their critically acclaimed album, This Is All Yours, this show should not be missed!

Tuesday

Dead Sara/The Wans @ The Webster Hall Studio – The four-piece rock band lead by singer Emily Armstrong’s smokey and powerful vocals. Their recently released single “Something Good,” is a perfect snapshot of the guitar band’s very Fleetwood Mac-esque, sexy rock style.

Vomitface @ Palisades – Dark guitars and lots of disitortion make up this three-piece rock band. They bring the thrust of hard rock with the song styling of tasteful grunge.

Wednesday

Evvy @ Mercury Lounge – This indie-pop artist has surprisingly great tunes for being more into the pop realm. Opening for Verite, Evvy’s deep synth pop has enough hooks and melodic waves in solid singles “Swing” and “Calling.”

Steve Gunn @ Baby’s All Right – Steve brings folky/Americana music to the heart of Brooklyn. His 2014 album Way Out Weather takes you to big sky country with his brilliant mix of guitar sounds and songwriting.

Thursday

Alvvays @ Bowery Ballroom – Canadian indie-rockers are carrying the momentum of landing on everyone’s Best Albums of 2014 lists into the new year. They’re hitting the road hard and making a stop at Bowery Ballroom before heading up for shows in Boston.. let’s say we show Alvvays how a real city parties eh?

Midnight Hollow/New Myths @ Good Room – Indie-dream rock band Midnight Hollow will be partying hard for the release of their EP. With an open bar presented by Paste Mag and Todd Snyder Clothing, as well as the kick as girls from New Myths also on the bill, what more could you ask for?

Friday

Perfect Pussy @ Baby’s All Right – Also acting as the promoter for the night, Perfect Pussy takes the reins with their dirty guitar sound and reckless energy. Their 2014 album Say Yes To Love is only a small taste of their rock awesomeness.

Reptar @ Brooklyn Night Bazaar – Reptar will be ringing in the weekend with their album release show at BK Bazaar. Unline their Nickeloedon Rugrats Reptar counterpart, your tongue wont turn green, but your legs will be shaking at the thought of dancing to their catchy indie-rock vibes.

Saturday

Sky-Pony @ Mercury Lounge –Another great modern spin on the classic girl group style indie rock. Throw in great costumes and you’ve got an original act which carry on an old style

Sunday

Lana Is @Rockwood Music Hall – The Croatian born singer/songwriter moved to NYC and created an alternate persona, known as Lana Is. Come see Lana Is perform her truthful and uplifting songs, which are perfect for a Sunday night.
