TASTE WILLIAMSBURG GREENPOINT PREVIEW

With so many music events, festivals, and weekends at the beach, it’s tough to really plan out a social life evenly as a New Yorker these days. It’s even tougher living in North Brooklyn, where everything seems to be happening these days. From Nothside Festival to SummerScreen, to late nights up and down Troutman St. or Bedford, it all seems to be happening north of Broadway in Brooklyn during the summer. With everything going on you mustn’t forget there’s still a solid month and a half of summer left before temperatures start dipping down and ruining our lives, and still a lot of killer events coming up before October rolls around.

Taste Williamsburg Greenpoint is one of those events, that will help close out your summer outdoors event season on a super high note. Returning for its sixth year on Sunday September 13th at East River State Park on the Williamsburg waterfront, the north Brooklyn block party style event will once again feature sampling and tastings of over 50 of the top restaurants, pubs/bars, breweries, and wineries from Williamsburg and Greenpoint.

Mannhattanites who haven’t gotten a chance to explore Brooklyn and all its culinary goodness yet this summer, now’s your chance, as this event will blow you away with the roster of participating venues that will be serving samples of some of the best food, in the best borough in NYC. Tickets range from $35 to $85 and the number of tastes and drinks you get depend on which package you buy, but in reality any package is going to be worth your money as you’ll definitely discover that one burger or sushi joint you’ve been dying to eat at, but are too scared to try because you still read Yelp for some ridiculous reason.

For those of you who are all about investing back into your neighborhood, don’t worry, it’s definitely for a good cause- all proceeds from the event will be going towards the renovation of the Northside Town Hall and Community and Cultural Center. What could possibly be better than supporting your community, while spending a beautiful early fall afternoon along the East River stuffing your face from some of Brooklyn’s best along with live music from Kings Country Ramblers and Big Dog Run?

If you’re looking to get a little tipsy (which most of you are because you’re on this website called Pancakes & Whiskey), the party includes custom beer, wine, and cocktails from various sponsors who will also be on-site including Brooklyn Brewery, Belvedere Vodka, Jim Beam, Milagro Tequila, Manhattan Beer, Hennessy, Reyka Vodka, Southern Wine & Spirits, and Tito’s Vodka in addition to a specialty drink from Huckleberry Bar, and wine from Brooklyn Oeneology and Brooklyn Winery. I doubt there’ll be any difficulties getting your buzz on before or after you stuff your face.

Some of the highlights that will be guaranteed to leave your taste buds in heaven will be Fritzl’s Lunch Box, who is said to have the best burger in Brooklyn. Brooklyn Star, which offers new twists on southern comfort food is another amazing exhibitor, and Pies ‘N’ Thighs, whose chicken and waffles and of course pies can be heard around the city for their tasty goodness. Don’t forget about The Meatball Shop either, because we’ve all stumbled into one of their locations at 3:30am and have feasted on their incredible risotto after a night out on the town.

Head here for the full listing of participating restaurants and more information on the event and buying your tickets, but act fast as this event will quickly sell out by the time Labor Day rolls around. Of course watch our P&W social media outlets closely because we’ll be running a contest and giving away some tickets!
