SICKWALT KICKS INTO HIGH GEAR AT MERCURY LOUNGE

This past week New Yorkers received a holiday treat: a true blue rock band performing with heart, passion and thoughtful precision.

The pre-Thanksgiving crowd at Mercury Lounge were delighted when the band opened with a joyous rendition of the theme song from “Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood” performed by frontman Walter Novak complete with a costume change into a punkified sweater vest.  Inhibitions were left on the sidewalk as Novak raised his voice to the heavens and welcomed us all to SickWalt’s neighborhood.

The band kicked into high gear immediately after and never took their foot off the gas pedal.  Playing crowd favorites like, “Heart of a Buffalo,” “City of Idiots,” and culminating with “Say Something” to end the night in the stratosphere.

We have written about this band before because they continually elevate what they are presenting to their audience.  Their next album is due out imminently and we cannot wait for SickWalt to open our eyes and ears to the resurgence of rock with a dash of old school punk and some scintillating theatrics thrown in for good measure.  And for that, we rock fans are eternally grateful.
