CAL FOLGER DAY RELEASES NEW VIDEO FOR “HOMEZ-A-PLACE”

On her latest video “Homez-a-Place,” Cal Folger Day marries the whimsical with the grandiose. “Home’s a place where I go crazy / If I stay,” becomes a mantra that signals the song’s themes of wanderlust and restlessness. It starts very much in the realm of psych folk, reminiscent of The Books, Linda Perhacs, or Diane Cluck, but progresses replacing acoustic guitars for electric squall, and airy flutes with bombastic drums.

“Homez-a-Place” leads the listener on a journey, evoking travel, change, and beauty. Whether it’s her hypnotic melodies, expansive production, or organic instrumental loops, it comes out sounding like a genuine psych folk gem. It’s a big departure from her last jazzy folk album, Drom-d’real, and her next release should be an exciting one
