Lazyeyes releases a shiny new single off their upcoming sophomore effort entitled “New Year” which will be released in December. We sat down with Jason from Lazyeyes and asked him a few questions.

Being from Brooklyn, do you have a favorite venue to play?

There’s not a favorite that comes to mind because we like them all. We’ve played most of the venues in NY/BK & are fans of each one. There’s a few that we haven’t performed at & are looking forward to do so in the near future!

Your second EP, New Year, will be released in December. What will you be doing to celebrate?

We’re in the works of putting together a release show. More details will be announced soon via our Facebook/Twitter/Website.

The way the vocals blend into the instrumentals on songs like Adaptation, Darling Dear and Islip creates a dreamy-pop feel. How would you describe the sound of New Year?

A melodic wall of sound.

Who have been some of your influences while creating music?

We all have a bunch of musical influences, but to name a few: The Smiths, For Against, Joy Division, The Cure, Sonic Youth, My Blood Valentine, Slowdive, New Order, Pixies, Echo & The Bunnymen, The Psychedelic Furs, Airiel, etc.

You recently signed with Flower Booking. Are you excited to tour on the new album? Is there anywhere in particular you’d like to play?

We’re really excited to tour for the first time! We’ll be starting with a short east coast run in early 2015 and expanding from that point on. I (Jason) personally always wanted to play some shows in California. I have a bunch of family over there & have been visiting a ton of times since I was young. The music scene, weather, & venues over there are awesome.

Since we are Pancakes and Whiskey, is there a type of whiskey or a signature drink you guys enjoy drinking?

Jameson & Whisky Ginger is a favorite.
