It’s already the second week in February? Well then, slow down the month by seeing some shows using our handy Pancake Picks below, to help you sort your musical week.

 

Tuesday

George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic @ BB King’s – It’ll be a funk filled Fat Tuesday to kick off the Mardi Gras season at B.B. King’s. Definitely make sure to take advantage of seeing the father of funk and the band that helped bring funk into the mainstream.

 

Wednesday

Slonk Donkerson @ Palisades – One of the city’s hardest working local bands, Slonk Donkerson brings their no bullshit, guitar rock to blast all the hipsters out of their suspenders and fanny packs on Wednesday.

 

Graveyard @ Brooklyn Bowl – Graveyard is one of those bands that cannot be categorized, and that is what makes them so special. Mixing many genres to make their own style, they bring a laser sharp live gig to Brooklyn Bowl for a mid-week show.

 

Thursday

Grizfolk @ The Gramercy Theatre – This L.A. based alt-rock band that has magnificent melodies and a pop sensibility, are no strangers to the long grind of a tour, which has sharpened their skills into one of the tighter touring bands today. The Devil Makes Three @ Terminal 5 – Their music can be best described as Americana blended with bluegrass folk, country, and jazz and when they get onstage it’s a sight to behold.

 

Friday

Dance Yourself Clean @ Brooklyn Bowl – Winter got you feeling all dirty? Dance Yourself Clean brings their indie-pop dance party to Brooklyn Bowl for what should be a great night full of music inspired by LCD, CHVRCHES, Miami Horror, Empire of the Sun, and more!

 

Alison Wonderland @ Warsaw – One of the hottest rising DJs in the electronic music world, Australia’s Alison Wonderland mixes her love and ability to make great electronic music mixes with her background as a classically trained musician for bring a great new style of DJ music.

 

Saturday

Martin Courtney @ Baby’s All Right – Fan of Real Estate? The band’s frontman Martin Courtney released his debut solo album back in October and takes the stage at Baby’s for a great Saturday night show in Williamsburg. His solo sound is very similar to the kind of sound of his side band, but expect nothing less than a great performance from one of NYC’s top songwriters.

 

Protomartyr @ Music Hall Of Williamsburg – Detroit’s wall of sonic post-punk rock extraordinaire Protomartyr,w ill be bringing on the wail at Music Hall of Williamsburg.

 

Sunday

Mitski @ The Knitting Factory – If your itching for some lo-fi grungy and moody tunes, look no further. Mitski has a style that says “fuck the standard, I’m gonna do me,” so roll on out to the Knitting Factory where they’ll treat you right for a Sunday treat.
