No plans for the weekend yet? No complaining now! Kicking off tomorrow, August 12th through the 19th is a new, free music festival right in Queens, New York with a sweet lineup and itinerary that you won’t want to miss out on. The inaugural ASTORIA MUSIC NOW! Between Two Bridges Festival will fill the neighborhood with 8 days of music in 44 performances across 9 venues – so you’ll have plenty of chances to get out with all the cool kids and enjoy it this week. Acts at the top of the bill include Dirty Wings, whose performance will mark their 10-year anniversary show, indie rock/synth pop outfit Beecher’s Fault, and Single Girl, Married Girl, whose folk-pop set was fantastic when we covered them back in March.

The first-of-its-kind Queens fest is presented by some awesome groups bringing attention to local artists and musicians, namely Astoria Music Collective X Astoria Music & Arts, in association with Venus Envy Artist Coalition and Queensfolk – all of whom you should check out and support! And if the psychedelic poster art caught your eye (and your eye, and your other eye..), it’s because it was designed by beloved local street artist Hissxx, who has been creating some dope stuff for Astoria Music Collective in recent weeks.
There’s no cover for entry, but be prepared to go nuts on drinks & snacks since this fest will take you to some tasty spots – including the cozy Quays Pub (where opening ceremonies are happening tomorrow), LIC Beer Project, and Astoria Bier & Cheese-Ditmars, among other fine local establishments.
